The Third Meeting of Range States to the CMS Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI) will be hosted by the Government of Uzbekistan and is taking place from 24 to 26 June 2025 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The meeting will be organized by the CMS Secretariat within the CAMCA Project, funded by the International Climate Initiative of the German Government.

The Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI) was established at the 11th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP11) in 2014. The overall goal of the Initiative is to improve the conservation status of large migratory mammals and their habitats in the region by strengthening coordination and cross-border cooperation, while addressing major threats. CAMI builds on a regional programme to identify synergies, based on common geography, interests, and species, enhances cooperation and coordination at the local, regional and international level, helps minimize institutional overlap, and improves implementation of CMS and its instruments.

CAMI includes a comprehensive Programme of Work (POW), which is updated regularly. The POW was revised by the 2nd Meeting of Range States to the Initiative held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, in 2019. CAMI will be reviewing, amending, and endorsing a new draft Programme of Work at the upcoming meeting, prepared by experts following at a Technical Workshop for CAMI held earlier this year (5–9 May, Isle of Vilm, Germany). The POW provides concrete conservation actions for the 15 CAMI-listed species that occur in 14 Range States.

In addition to updating and approval a new POW beyond 2026, objectives of the 3rd Meeting of Range States to CAMI include information exchange information and reviewing national progress and challenges in implementing the current CAMI Work Programme (2020–2026).
